Hannahisms

Here's a collection of cute, funny, and otherwise memorable things Hannah has said in the past couple of months.

Hannah, observing Lise's loss of a discernible belly button to pregnancy, explained that the bely button "flew away."

Hannah, also observing my clean shaven face (after having a beard for ~4 months), explained that I "took off the beard to wash it."

Hannah's ode to Marriane Combs' scones: "I like scones, not doggie bones." Coincidentally, we think this is Hannah's first rhyme.

Precious moment in kid creativity

I was wearing a geography department T-shirt today that prompted Hannah to offer up a quotable quote. My T-shirt celebrates my boss, Dave Lanegran, through a line art drawing that presents Dave's head in a way that outlines the shape of the world's continents. It's a Face Map of sorts that distorts both the map and the face but leaves each recognizable. Needless to say, when Hannah saw this T-shirt, she promptly identified it as the "Muffin Man." I think I laughed for a good minute after hearing that.

"I'm like a snake! sssssssssss"

Thus spoke Hannah this afternoon on the way to the playground. It was the first simile I have heard her say. Then, on the way home we saw a bumblebee. As we entered the back yard, she ran in circles on the lawn yelling "I'm like a little bumblebee!"

It was too cute.

Best Day Ever!

Hannah has been studying the whole birthday party ritual for a couple months and thinks it's a very good idea. She strongly recommends celebrating birthdays as often as possible.

Yum!

It's best to have friends and family there to help you party...

...and to show you how to make your toys more interesting.

iHannah

Hannah has been forming sentences for a couple months now. But it is only recently that she has started to use the "I" pronoun to refer to herself. This is truly a wonderful existential moment.

"I like it!"

Hannah is developing distinct preferences. She now often says "I like it!" to announce her likes. We've even witnessed her say "I love it!" on occasion. On the other hand, she'll often say "icky", probably to explain her dislikes.

A stream-of-consciousness list of her current favorites:

monkeys
pigs
cows
noodles
apple juice
polka dots
bare feet
pants
grandmas and granpa
white blankies (not brown ones)
the smell of coffee
All things pickled (even herring!)
Mickey mouse
Singing songs
Going through tunnels
Bubble baths
